Tea Recipes
Tea Recipes can mean many different things to different people or even different things to the same person at different times and places. Tea is a breakfast wake-me-up drink, also an afternoon refresher that can substituted for the ‘Coffee Break’.
Tea is perhaps one of the most malleable beverages in the world, It can be easily adapted to suit your taste and mood. Here are a few recipes you can try to spike up your tea drinking with fun.
Orange Tea
You have tried lemon tea, now experiment with tangy orange.
You will need:
• 2 cups of water
• 1 ½ cup of orange juice
• ¼ tsp sugar
• ¼ tsp cinnamon
• 1/8 tsp cloves, ground
• 2 teabags
In a saucepan, heat the orange juice, water, sugar and spices until boiling. Reduce the heat and simmer until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes, Strain out the tea bags and serve hot.
Tea And Orange Drink
You will need:
• 1 orange (juice only)
• 1 tsp tea leaves
• ¾ pint of boiling water
• Some crushed ice
Pour the boiling water over the tea leaves, Cover, and let stand for 5 minutes. Add sugar and orange juice, and strain through the tea strainer. Put it in a shaker alongwith some crushed ice, Shake and Serve!
Apple And Honey Iced Tea
A sweet and fruity drink, perfect for a hot summer afternoon.
You will need:
• 3 cups of water
• 4 tea bags
• 1/3 cup honey
• 3 cups of apple juice
Steep the tea bags in boiling water for 5 minutes. Strain out the tea bags and stir in honey and juice. Mix until the honey has dissolved. Chill and serve over ice.
Iced Tea Tipple
You will need:
• 2 tsp apple cider
• A dash of bitters (If your tea is astringent enough, you wont need it)
• 1 cup of chilled packaged iced tea
• Apple or Peach to garnish
Fill a tall lemonade glass with ice cubes. First pour in the liquor, then add bitters if needed. Gently pour the tea over a spoon. End up with adding a garnish of apple or peach fruit peel.
Iced Tea 1
You will need:
• Quarts tea (moderately strong and fresh made)
• ¾ cup corn syrup
• Juice of 1 piece of lemon
• 1 sliced lemon for garnish
• Some crushed ice
Chill the tea, Stir in corn syrup and lemon juice, and serve with crushed ice and lemon.
Iced Tea 2
You will need:
• A glass of freshly made tea
• Half a glass of chopped ice
• 1 tbsp sugar syrup
• A slice of lemon, orange or lime
Rapidly cool the fresh made tea, Fill half of the glass with chopped ice and the rest with tea. Add sugar syrup to sweeten the taste and add a slice of Citrus.
Iced Tea 3
You will need:
• 6 pieces of ice
• 2 slices of lemon
• 2 tsp powdered sugar
• Freshly drawn tea
• Cracked ice
Fill two third of a large glass with cracked or large pieces of Ice., Add slices of lemon and powdered sugar, and fill glass with freshly drawn tea, and serve!
Mint Tea
You will need:
• ½ tsp tea
• ½ tsp crushed mint leaves
• 1 cup water
Bring water to boil, and put the tea and mint leaves in a scalded teapot. Pour boiling water over the leaves, and allow to stand for 3 minutes. Strain and serve.
Spice Syrup For Tea
You will need:
• 1 cup water
• ½ cup sugar
• 1 tbsp whole cloves, crushed
• 2 inch piece stick of cinnamon, broken into pieces
• Juice of 2 lemons
Place water and sugar in a saucepan and heat to boiling point. Loosely tie the cloves and cinnamon together in a piece of cheesecloth. Add cloves and cinnamon when sugar gets dissolved and boil gently to 215 degrees or to a thin syrup. Add lemon juice to it after cooling. Serve in a small bowl, using 1tbsp syrup in each cup of tea.
Spiced Tea
You will need:
• ¾ tsp tea leaves
• 2 whole cloves
• 1 cup boiling water
• A scalded teapot
Boil water, Put tea leaves and cloves in a scalded teapot, pour the boiling water over the tea and cloves, and allow to stand for 3 minutes. Strain and serve.
Green Chai
You will need:
• 1/3 cup loose green tea leaves
• 2 tbsp loose black tea leaves
• 1 tsp powdered ginger
• 6 whole cloves (or ½ tsp powdered cloves)
• ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
• Milk (May substitute for soy or rice milk)
Blend all the ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Place ½ of the mixture into a teapot and add boiling water. While the tea is steeping, heat an amount of milk equal to the amount of tea brewed. Steep until tea is of the desired strength. Strain and pour into a mug, filling halfway. Add the warm milk to the mug and blend with the tea.
Makes enough for 2 generous pots of green chai. You can also store the blended mixture to use later.

Thai Iced Tea Mocktail
You will need:
• ¼ cup tea
• ½ cup hot water
• 2 tsp condensed milk
• Crushed ice
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker or a stirrer and pour into any unusually shaped glass. Add crushed ice and decorations to create a great speciality drink from an easy to make recipe.
Masala Tea 1
You will need:
• 6 cups cold water
• 1/3 cup milk (or to taste)
• 1/3 stick cinnamon
• 6 whole green cardamoms
• 4 whole cloves
• 12 black peppercorn (Optional)
• 12 tsp sugar (or to taste)
• 6 tsp leaf tea (heaping) or 9 tea bags (orange pekoe)
Combine water and milk in a deep pan and bring to boil. Add the spices and sugar. Stir to blend, and turn off the heat. Cover the pan, and let the spices soak for at least 10 minutes. Add the tea leaves or tea bags and bring the water to a second boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 5 minutes. Uncover, check colour and taste, and if desired add more milk and sugar. Strain the tea into a warm teapot and serve immediately.
(This is how the traditional spiced tea is made). You may, however, omit the milk or sugar, or both, in which case the quantity of tea would be reduced to 2 heaping tsps or 3 tea bags.
Masala Tea 2
You will need:
• 4 cups water
• 2 whole star anise
• ½ tbsp ground cardamom
• 12 whole cloves
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 1 large piece of ginger, carded or fresh, and diced
• 1 tsp / 1 tbsp crushed black peppercorns
• 2 bay leaves
• 8 bags black tea (or equivalent loose tea)
• 4 cups milk
• ¼ cup honey or brown sugar
Combine all ingredients except milk and sweetener, boil for 10 minutes and strain. Add the hot milk and mix with your choice of honey or brown sugar. It serves 8 cups.
Place the ground cardamom in a tea bag or muslin bag, if you don’t want cardamom sediment in your tea.
Masala Tea 3
• 1 tsp green Cardamom seeds
• 3 cloves
• ½ tsp fennel seeds
• ¼ black peppercorns
• Ajwain (few)
• ½ tsp dried ginger
• ½” cinnamon
• A pinch of grated Nutmeg
First of all you need to prepare Tea Masala with the above ingredients. Grind everything into find powder without roasting, and store in a container. Makes about 2 tbsp of masala powder.
You will need:
• 1 cup water
• ½ cup milk
• 1 “ crushed fresh ginger
• 2 crushed fresh cardamom
• ¾ tsp tea masala
• 2 tsp sugar
Bring water to boil with the fresh crushed ginger, sugar, and cardamom. Once it comes to boil, add tea leaves and Tea Masala as prepared above. Cover and simmer for 2 minutes. Tea leaves should not be allowed to boil. Add hot milk and mix well. Strain into a cup and enjoy this hot drink.
Masala Tea 4
You will need:
• 1 piece of dry ginger
• 3 cardamom pods, crushed
• 3 whole cloves
• 1 piece of cinnamon stick
• Milk and sugar to taste
Grate the ginger and break up the cinnamon stick. Bring 2 cups of water to boil, add tea leaves and all the spices. Let everything brew while boiling for 30 to 45 seconds. Remove from heat, and let steep at room temperature for another minute. Strain out the tea and the pieces of spice. Serve hot and fragrant, with only a touch of milk and sugar.
Lemon Tea
You will need:
• 2 cups water
• 1 tsp tea powder
• ½ cup lemon juice
• Sugar to taste
Start with first heating the water. Add tea powder and lemon juice and bring to boil. Add sugar to taste and your lemon tea is ready.
Lemon Tea 2
You will need:
• 1 tbsp black tea leaves or 2 black tea bags
• 1 lemon, sliced
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 1/3 cup caster sugar
• 6 cups boiling water
• Lemon slices, to serve (Optional)
Place the tea leaves/bags, lemon, cinnamon and sugar in a large teapot. Pour boiling water and set aside for 5 minutes to steep. Strain the tea while pouring into cups or glasses. Add lemon slices. Serve hot or iced.
Prepare the tea 3 hours before consumption if serving iced, or instant in serving hot.
Street Tea Mocktail
• 1-2 black teabags
• 1 sprig fresh mint, 8-10 leaves
• 2-3 slices orange rind
• 2 ounces freshly squeezed lemonade
• 1 ounce white cranberry juice
• Orange peel spiral (to garnish0
• Maraschino cherry or fresh cranberries (to garnish)
Place the tea bags in a small teapot and fill it up with boiling water. Submerge the mint and orange rind and add the lemonade and cranberry juice. Cover the teapot and allow to steep 2 to 4 minutes. Pour the tea into a clear glass mug to serve. Garnish with spiral orange and cherry or cranberries and serve.
Lemon Almond Tea
• 2 family size black tea bags
• 4 cups boiling water
• 2 lemons, thinly sliced
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 tbsp almond extract
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 litre bottle lemon-lime flavoured carbonated beverage, chilled
Brew teabags in hot water for 15 minutes in a saucepan. While waiting for the tea to brew, squeeze the lemon slices as you put them into a large pitcher, and pour in sugar. Pour brewed tea into the pitcher containing the sugar and lemons. You can let this sit in a refrigerator for upto one day, or use it right away. When ready to serve, stir in almond extract, vanilla extract and lime soda.
Lemon Iced Tea
You will need:
• 2 quartz of water
• ¾ cup sugar (approx. 150g)
• 2 ounces lemon juice (60ml)
• 2 bags of black tea
Boil 2 quartz of water. Drop the two teabags into the water and remove from heat. Cover with a lid and allow steeping for at least an hour. Once the tea has been sufficiently steeped, remove the tea bags and add the sugar and lemon juice. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves.
Pour the tea into a pitcher and add ice cubes until the volume has returned to 2 quartz. Refrigerate until completely chilled before serving.
